Grace was facing a 13% retirement cliff of their commercial organization over a five-year period. With these team members retiring they needed to backfill over 40 roles within their Materials Technology Department over a 2-year period. Grace did not have a standardized, established program in place to document and transfer critical business and technical knowledge from those retiring to the rest of their team. They also needed to shorten their 18-month time-to-proficiency process for new hires. Grace partnered with TTA to develop a learning strategy and program to prepare for the retirement cliff and successfully onboard new hires. This program called ‘Project Spark’ was the creation of a custom, standardized curriculum for their global commercial team which established knowledge transfer best practices and reduced time-to-proficiency for newly hired employees. This initiative won a 2020 Brandon Hall Gold award Excellence in Workforce Management.
