Our Story – Pioneers of the Gig Economy

TTA began over 25 years ago when Vic Melfa (my father), a thought leader and visionary in the L&D industry, saw a need from companies for professional, yet flexible, training services. When he asked me to join him to create a business that offered this training, I never imaged the positive impact it would have on so many organizations and people. Today, our L&D talent community has over 23,000 professionals, and we have trained over 6 million learners, across 97 countries, in 35 languages.

TTA’s vision grew from my father’s involvement in the computer training industry. As a co-founder and CEO of Vitronix, a dominant computer training company in the Northeast, he operated one of the first and largest Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, and Novell Education Centers in the country.

His commitment to IT training continued where he developed industry standards, practices, and associations. Vic was a founder of Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the largest IT trade association in the world, and the Information Technology Training Association (ITTA) and Association of Microcomputer Distributors (AMD). He has received many awards in his career, including the first recipient of CompTIA’s Lifetime Achievement award, CEO of an Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Company two times, and an Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist several times.

“I am grateful to the many individuals who have contributed to our longevity and success. First and foremost, without my father’s foresight, passion, and determination, TTA would not exist. His deep understanding of the training industry and its growing importance in the business world laid the groundwork for the company we are today.” – Maria Melfa
