As you create your virtual training delivery strategy, it is important to evaluate the many benefits that virtual training can have on your organization. For example, one of the most common concerns with virtual training is its potential to be less effective. However, based on research by Training Magazine, 86% of virtual classroom participants rated the experience “just as engaging” or “more engaging than” traditional classroom training.[i] To get an expert’s perspective on delivering training virtual, we decided to sit down with John Laverdure, Director of Learning Solutions at TTA to hear about some of the key advantages. He highlighted three of the primary benefits of delivering your training virtually:

  1. Flexibility

The first benefit we discussed was flexibility. Delivering your training virtually can provide great flexibility for both participants and facilitators. By delivering virtually, course content can be broken up into digestible chunks which increases learner retention and helps balance workload. Additionally, virtual training can be offered simultaneously in multiple locations or shared as a recording which allows learners to take the training at a later time.

  1. Engagement

Contrary to popular belief, virtual courses can often be highly engaging for learners. The platforms used for VILT often have features that allow for an engaging learner experience, including poll questions, white boards, breakout rooms, and public or private chats. Additionally, VILT platforms offer live Q&A sessions which allow for continued reinforcement after the training ends.

  1. Cost Savings

Converting to VILT helps reduce the cost of training. Since VILT requires no travel (by learners or instructors), learners are able to join the training virtually from anywhere. VILT gives organizations the ability to scale their training and access subject matter expert trainers from all over the world.

As you consider converting your training to VILT, it’s important to remember that you don’t need to do it alone. Training providers have the resources, experience and network wo help you strategically develop and deliver an innovative and effective virtual training solution that aligns with your organization’s training goals.
